Mount Gilead Baptist Church was founded in 1824 by Mount Carmel Baptist in Chapel Hill. As we celebrate more than 200 years of ministry, we not only look back at God’s blessings over many generations, but we also look forward to reaching future generations with the good news of the gospel. Even though the trends and culture of our community have changed over the years, the truth of God’s redemption for the world remains constant.

Every one is broken and is in need of a Savior

God’s love is extended to all of the world leaving out no one

Jesus was born into the world in a miraculous way and lived a perfect life. As the son of God, Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross taking our punishment upon himself. On the third day after his death, Jesus rose from the grave overcoming death so that we might have forgiveness and eternal life. God extends his invitation to us to believe in Jesus and to follow him as Lord of our life. When we choose to follow Jesus, we leave our old life behind and trust Jesus to lead us each day in newness of life. We anticipate the ultimate gift of being with Jesus in heaven when this earthly life is over.

New life in Christ is experienced when we acknowledge our brokenness and acknowledge to God our faith in   Jesus as our Savior and our desire to follow him as the manager of our life.
